This complex is made up of two sets of three whistle stamps, escargots and tube shaped whistles stamped Horstmann, Arkay and A G Spaulding. Whereas the connection between the whistles themselves can be verified, the history of who made them and what dates is obscure. Here is a very handsome and inscribed, original Model Officer’s Staff and Field imported sword complete with its original metal scabbard. Medical Department designated as the Medical Staff Sword. No maker mark. Remains ding-free with slight traces of condensation spotting near tip. The scabbard is made of iron and covered in black leather with brass mounts and drag. This saber was manufactured by the most highly respected Solingen, Prussia, and imported to the U.

Foot Artilleryman’s sword often described as a ‘Roman gladiator’ sword. This Model Staff sword is a post-war piece in fine condition overall. Just brought in today, fresh out of a Murray County estate, this is an untouched, second model, Confederate manufactured Kenansville Cavalry saber. This is the saber only without scabbard. The grip is worn to polished wood, much like a staircase railing. This is an untouched saber from a rare Confederate maker that would be a fine addition to any Confederate Cavalry display.

These are often referred to as “The Old Wristbreaker” because of how heavy they were. This example is out of the local area and was almost certainly Confederate carried. The blade remains clean with no rusting and has some residue of having been lightly plated at some point. Most of the plating is worn away.
